Car Radio Is Still #1 For New Music With Kids

Mediamark Research has determined that while 59.8% of kids have a CD player in their bedrooms and about 25% have computers in their bedrooms, the top music portal for children is the car radio (cited by 74% = 72% of boys and 76.1% of girls).

Approximately 5,400 children responded to the 2005 American Kids Study, questionnaires for which were sent to households with children ages 6-11 that were interviewed for MRI’s Survey of the American Consumer. The survey period was March 8 to August 1, 2005. Among the findings:

* Gaming is the top online activity.
* CD players outnumber MP3 players for music listening
* 70% want to make a lot of money when they are older.
* When asked what they do when TV commercials come on,
nearly 60% of respondents say they watch them.
