Andy Griffith and Dolly Parton Also Get Presidential Awards

Griffith was at this week's White House ceremony which also honored Alan Greenspan and baseball Hall of Famer Jackie Robinson.

President Bush will honor Dolly Parton with the National Medal of Arts and the National Humanities at a later date. Meanwhile, Dolly will take part in a groundbreaking ceremony for a new entertainment complex in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., on Friday.

She will be joined by brother Randy Parton, who plans to operate the $129 million complex that will encompass 800 acres in northeast North Carolina. Randy Parton will also perform regularly at the complex in his own 1,500-seat theater. Grand Ole Opry members Jim Ed Brown and Jeannie Seely will also appear at Friday's event. The complex is expected to open in April 2007.
